Buyer’s Guide
The RC F is the performance version of the aggressively styled Lexus RC coupe line-up. Starting at $83,150, this BMW M4 competitor was brand new for 2015 so it's unchanged for 2016. But that's fine, because it still has a 467 hp, 5.0L V8 driving the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic and a limited slip differential. All that power gets a fuel economy rating of 15.2 L/100 km city, 9.5 L/100 km highway.
Inside is a heated, power telescoping leather wheel with paddle shifters, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, 7.0-inch screen for the infotainment and navigation, eight-way power heated and ventilated leather front seats, sport gauges with a full TFT display, a g-force meter so you can see how hard the 235 mm front and 255 mm wide rear summer tires on 19-inch wheels will let you corner, and a torque distribution meter. There is also push button start, keyless access, parking assist and radar cruise control. You'll also get blind spot warning, LED brake lights, and lane departure and cross traffic alerts. The RC F has LED headlights and, interestingly, water repelling glass for the windows.
The $7,400 performance package adds a torque vectoring rear differential, unique alloys in the same 190inch side, and most notably drops the power moonroof in favour of a full carbon fibre roof to save weight, and an active rear spoiler.
The RC F is a slightly more luxurious, but still well performing alterative to the M4, the Mercedes C63 AMG, Audi RS5 and Cadillac ATS-V coupe.

The Lexus RC F is not bland. It's a compact performance luxury coupe introduced for 2015 to take on the likes of BMW's legendary M4, Cadillac's ATS-V, and the soon-to-arrive 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 coupe – a pulse-quickening lineup of rivals. It was built from the components of three existing models, with the front end of the Lexus GS sedan, the floorpan of the Lexus IS C convertible (reinforced at the sills for increased rigidity), and a rear end adapted from the Lexus IS sedan.

Issue:
This recall is for certain block heater kits installed on certain vehicles or sold as accessories at Toyota or Lexus dealerships.
On certain vehicles, the engine block heater cable may not have enough heat protection and could be damaged by high temperatures. If this happens, the cable could short circuit while plugged in, and cause the wiring to overheat or melt.

Safety Risk:
Engine block heater wiring that overheats or melts could create the risk of a fire.
Corrective Actions:
Toyota recommends that you should stop using the engine block heater immediately. Toyota will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to disable the engine block heater. For some vehicles, the corrective actions for this recall are under development. For others, a new engine block heater cannot be installed, and the owner will receive a refund of the purchase price of the engine block heater.

On certain vehicles equipped with a 5.0L V8 gasoline engine, a fatigue crack could develop on the cover of the high pressure fuel pump. If the vehicle is operated with this condition, the crack could expand and allow fuel to leak. Leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire, increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the high pressure fuel pumps with improved ones.

On certain vehicles, the electrical power cords of some dealer installed block heaters may have been improperly manufactured, causing the wires to contact each other, resulting in a short circuit. A short circuit could lead to a fire which would increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: For vehicles where the subject block heater was approved for installation, the dealer will replace the block heater assembly with a new one of an improved design. For vehicles where the subject block heater was not approved for installation, dealers will remove the block heater assembly. In the interim, until the remedy can be performed, dealers will cut the plug end from the block heater cord to disable the block heater's operation.
